We did it.
WE GOT NEWS.
The face of a girl who is, per her latest PET scan results, No Evidence of Disease, and ready to have herself a summer.
WE DID IT.
An eight-day wait for results that was absolutely worth it.
The 11 grueling rounds of chemotherapy worked.
The maintenance therapy is working.
(Science is amazing. We have simply got to keep funding cancer research!)
Life with metastatic breast cancer means you’re never totally in the clear and the cancer will always be lurking and ready to pounce. I’m hopeful I’ll learn how to exist in that reality, and to maybe even thrive in it.
I’ve certainly not processed this news — or any of the past three years, TBH — but that’s the update. NED, baby.
(I ramble a bit about it in a solo episode, out today, and I did lose a bit of sleep over this one because somehow I got good news and the episode is a little bit of a downer, a little complainy. I thought about taking it down or re-editing — which, sorry, I don’t have time for — but ultimately let it live because hey, that’s the reality of how I’m feeling in this moment. The days I think will be the best always end up being the heaviest. IDK. It’s such good news!!!)
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for your tireless support.
Thank you for understanding the complexities of living with stage IV cancer, and with always leading with empathy as I navigate all of it. You are the Best Running Friends in the world, and I love you.
Have a great weekend.
Have a great everything!!!
NED!!!
(I have so much more to say. Obviously. When do I not? But for now, I’m taking the day off and going on an adventure with Annie and friends. Because life is good.)
This week on the Ali on the Run Show:
The Latest Life Update From Ali: Don’t let the title trigger you. It’s good news!
Watching:
Obviously the Summer House three-part reunion. Does anyone want to talk about it? What a frustration reunion! Amanda and West and their lies and ommissions, how exhausting!
Ali Elsewhere:
Today in “Things I Never Thought I’d Say,” I was a guest on Katie Couric’s podcast, Next Question with Katie Couric. We recorded this episode at her NYC studio on April 30 — the morning before we walked in the Runway for Recovery fashion show together. The episode is about breast cancer, with a focus on the rise in young women being diagnosed.
I was featured in the local Granite Post newsletter. The headline is very, very generous. (An empire!)
